Since January, French basketball player Salimata Sylla has been banned from playing the sport because of her headscarf.
Sylla learned about the ban just moments before a scheduled match. As she was about to go on the court with her teammates, officials informed her that head-covering accessories were deemed “inappropriate” for the game.
She has now started her own league after what happened.
