A full lunar eclipse creates a rare super blood moon on Tuesday but what should Muslims do when they see such a natural phenomenon?
It will be the last total lunar eclipse, or blood moon, until 2025. The best visibility will be in parts of Asia and North America.
The ‘blood moon’ eclipse happens when the Earth slots in between the Moon and the Sun, which means the light travels through Earth’s atmosphere to the Moon, making it look red.
In an episode of IslamiQA earlier in the year, Dr Samer Darwish talked about how the Prophet (SAW) used to pray Salat-ul-Kusuf when there was an eclipse of the moon or the sun. But he adds the prayer is only for people who actually witnessed the event.
